Tosca, La Divina
Opera at Florham presented Tosca, La Divina, an abridged retelling of Puccini’s Tosca. This production featured Kirsten Chambers, Soprano as Floria Tosca, Ta’u Pupu’a, Tenor as Mario Cavaradossi, Andrew Richardson, Bass-Baritone as Baron Scarpia, Mariana Karpatova, Narrator, and Mary Pinto, Artistic Director.

Tosca, La Divina
KIRSTEN CHAMBERS
Soprano
Kirsten Chambers is most known for her portrayal of the title role of Salome, which she performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Opera Hong Kong, Florida Grand Opera, and soon, at San Diego Opera. She made her Carnegie Hall debut singing Maria in Strauss’ Friedenstag with the American Symphony Orchestra. At the Metropolitan Opera, she covered leading and supporting roles, including Isolde in Tristan und Isolde, Helmwige in Die Walküre, and Marie in Wozzeck. Internationally, she debuted as Elsa in Lohengrin at the Savonlinna Opera
Festival, reprising the role at the Hong Kong Arts Festival and Opéra de Rennes.
Regional Opera engagements include the Angel in Angels in America for New York City Opera. In Boston, Ms. Chambers performed the Infantin in Der Zwerg, the title role in Strauss’ Die Ägyptische Helena, and Mrs. Poe in The Voyage of Edgar Allan Poe with Odyssey Opera. She sang the Foreign Princess in Rusalka at Lyric Opera of Kansas City. She performed Leonore in Fidelio with St. Petersburg Opera, the title role of Tosca with Opera Saratoga and Martha Cardona Opera, where she also performed Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana. At Indianapolis Opera she performed Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and with Opera Orlando, Marchesa del Poggio in Un Giorno di Regno. She covered the title role of Turandot with Arizona Opera, and the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos at Toledo Opera. Her NYC debut was singing Nedda in Pagliacci with the Bronx Opera.
Kirsten received her Masters degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Houston, and credits voice teacher and manager Brian Jauhiainen for launching her career.
TA'U PUPU'A
Tenor
Ta'u Pupu'a is a multifaceted artist whose journey has taken him from the gridiron to the grand stage. Born in Tonga and emigrating to the United States at an early age, Pupu'a initially gained recognition as a talented NFL player, showcasing his athletic prowess on the professional football field. However, his passion for the arts led him to embark on a remarkable career transition following a career-ending injury.
Renowned for his powerful tenor voice, he underwent rigorous vocal training at The Juilliard School to refine his natural talent. His dedication and artistic commitment has propelled him onto prestigious Opera stages around the world.
Pupu'a’s Operatic repertoire reflects a diverse range of roles, highlighting his vocal versatility and expressive depth. He has performed at Milan’s La Scala, San Francisco Opera, Kennedy Center, Tanglewood, Danish Radio Orchestra, Heidelberg Opera, Hong Kong Opera, to name a few venues, as well as concerts in Europe, China, Africa and across the USA.
With a unique journey that spans both the athletic and artistic realms, he has become an inspiring figure, demonstrating the transformative power of passion and determination. Beyond his performances, Pupu'a engages with audiences on a profound level, sharing his story of reinvention and the pursuit of artistic excellence. He was conferred by Weber State University with an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities, and by Utah State with a Governor’s Award. His contributions to the world of Opera not only showcase his vocal prowess but also serve as a testament to the boundless possibilities that come with following one’s true calling.
ANDREW RICHARDSON
Bass-Baritone
American bass-baritone Andrew Richardson has been acclaimed for his “very beautiful, very good, and well-produced voice” as well as having “an evident potential in the dramatic repertoire.” (Wagner Society of New York).
In the 2023-2024 season, Richardson sang Zaccaria (Nabucco) in the JASA Organization Showcase at the Congregation Emanu-El of the City of New York.
Richardson will make his debut with the Tulsa Symphony as the Bass Soloist in Mozart’s Requiem. Recent debuts include covering Schlendrian (The Immersive Coffee Cantata Experience) and the Lautsprecher (Der Kaiser von Atlantis) with Onsite Opera and Thomas Bouché (Down in the Valley) with Little Opera Theater of New York. Richardson covered the role of Don Pizarro (Fidelio) with St. Pete Opera in St. Petersburg, FL.
In 2021, Richardson debuted with New Amsterdam Opera singing Bethune/Procida cover (I Vespri Siciliani) and sang a recital with soprano Kirsten Chambers with Opera at Florham.
Richardson was also awarded an Encouragement Award from the Wagner Society of New York. Richardson was a semi-finalist in the 2021 Vincero World Singing Competition and a finalist in the International Lyric Competition Citta’ di Brescia in Memory of Maria Callas.
MARY PINTO
Artistic Director & Piano Accompanist
Mary Pinto, an acclaimed accompanist and vocal coach, has worked with international opera singers and major American opera companies for the past 25 years. Ms. Pinto's career began as a rehearsal pianist for noted opera companies: Dallas Opera, Chicago's Lyric Opera, Omaha Opera, and others. In 2012, Ms. Pinto coached and was rehearsal pianist for Metropolitan Opera star and international soprano Deborah Voigt as she prepared for the three Brünhilde roles for the Met's production of Wagner's Ring Cycle which was featured in the documentary Wagner’s Dream: The Making of the Met's Ring Cycle and premiered at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival.
In 2022, Ms. Pinto was invited to be official accompanist for the Giulio Gari Competition and to accompany singers in the Gerda Lissner Song, Zarzuela and Aria Competition. She made her Carnegie Hall debut playing for the winners of the Gerda Lissner Winners Concert. In 2021, Ms. Pinto coached and directed scenes at the Summer Opera Festival of Morelia and coached at the Queens Summer Vocal Institute. In the fall of 2020, she performed at Black Opera’s tribute to Jessye Norman. She spends her summers on the coaching staff at Masterclass d' Ischia, Italy. She has worked with the NJ State Opera and Light Opera of NJ, and internationally with Opera Noire’s Ensemble in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Ms. Pinto is on the faculty of Montclair State University as a private coach, accompanist, and prepares students for opera productions. She serves as Artistic Director and accompanist for Opera at Florham while maintaining coaching studios in New Jersey and New York City.
Mary received her Bachelor’s degree in Music for piano performance from DePauw University and a Master’s in Music degree for piano and voice accompaniment from University of Illinois.
